Good stuff.
Loved the dialouge in this one! Felt very natural. Almost Home Movies-ish. Did you guys write out a whole script beforehand, or was a lot of it imporved? Anyway, enjoyed it. Keep 'em coming!
This one was actually much more scripted than our last. We worked out a rough script and ran it through a few times being sure to pick out where the good jokes are. Then we threw away the script and started improvising. What you get is a meshing of scripted jokes and off the cuff random humor. Anyways, thanks for the review.
Even better than your others!
I have loved all of your other cartoons, but I've got to say that this one really takes, eats and fully digests the cake. Your others are amazing, but the style, story and animation in this one feel simply perfect. In other words, I kinda liked it. Heh.
HA! You got me!
Great stuff as always man. Love your style. This is the only Halloween flash that actually caught me off gaurd. I was leaning in close to the screen and everything. Good job man!
You beat me to it, dammit!
Very. Very. VERY, Well done. I'm a HUGE Scott Pilgrim nerd, and this animation did a fantastic job of capturing the vibe and feel of the series. I like how you didn't focus on one scene or character from a certain book, but encompassed the whole story. As a fan of SP, this left me feeling the "Infinite Gladness" (stupid pun).
On another note, you totally beat me to the punch with this one. It's crossed my mind more than once of making some kind of tribute/SP related animation. I think BLO'malley's art style totally lends itself to being animated, and I seriously thought about taking a crack at it for a while. On one hand, I feel like watching this inspired me to actually do it, but on the other, I'd kind of feel like a copy-cat doing one right after you :/ (plus, I'm trying to stray away from parodies for a while...).
Anyway, I'm kind of rambling now, but I heard Bryan talk during a panel at APE last year, and someone in the audience asked him about the movie, and if he'd considered doing it animated. He said <paraphrasing> he didn't think Scott Pilgrim would lend itself well to animation </paraphrasing>, but you totally proved him wrong.
Once again, well done and great job! It'd be great to see you do more with this.
Post.Script. I found this by reading BLO'M's blog, btw. Kudos for getting the author's praise!
We actually met during the SVA summer program thing. You were the guy who did the comic about Bigfoot, right? I love your work too, so thanks for the complements. Glad I impressed more than a few fans with this :]
Pretty rad!
I really like the character design and the world that the story takes place in. The overall athstetic feel of the movie was pretty pleasing, but the art felt a little rushed and sketchy (did you use a mouse or a drawing tablet? If mouse, then the drawing is actually really good for your tools) and the animation was pretty basic (some good frame-by-frame for the walking, but mostly tweening besides that). I could definately see what you were going for, but I'd love to see you take a bit more time on the actual process. Some of the shots were really amazing though, like the birds eye veiw of the woods and the ship flying across the sky. Good stuff!
As for the story, I didn't really follow it at all. I understand how hard it is to tell a story without dialouge, and I commend you for giving that a go, but I just didn't really get what was going on besides the Oak Sage walking through the woods and finding the sack with the balls [insert testicle joke here]. I know it's only one part of a ongoing series and your just establishing the character/world, but I feel like I was left wanting more.
Lastly, I don't know where you got that music, but it was fucking RAD! I love that 8-bit shit! Really fit the mood too. If you made it yourself, AWESOME job. But if not, you really need to give credit at the end at least. I really wanna find that artist so I can listen to more of their music, but I don't know who did it!
Anyway, great idea overall, and I'd love to see you do more with it! Good luck man!
Juicy.
This animation is tastey like a red delicious. I can't get enough of you Yotam. I just can't. get. enough.
Drove up in my BONE CAMARO!
Fuck yeah! The Unicorns are one of my faves! I got really excited when I heard those first quavering notes. I really dug the stye of this; the soft colors and simple design. Suits the music very well. I agree with BEBE that it kind of lacked purpose, and the length left me wanting SO MUCH MORE! Wish you would have done the whole song. But for what it was, I really enjoyed it. Extra points in my book just for using such an awesome song! You have fine taste friend. Keep it up!
P.S. People seem to like the song. You should say in your description who it's by. Just a thought...
Yeah, I've had some PM's about it xD
The Unicorns are awesome!
Next music video will be a full song :)
Thanks :D
Ohmanohman! Outa SIGHT!
This was so brilliant! I loved absolutley everything about it! The animation was well done (all with a MOUSE!?!), the art style was great and original, the voice acting was well delivered, the comedy was superb, and the overall quality, including sound and visuals, was notched to the top! I'm definatley going to be watching for more from you in the future! Well done my friend. Well done.
P.S. I actually laughed out loud at the end. And not just a little giggle. I full-on guffaed! I don't normally do that when watching flash cartoons.
Holy crap, thanks man. Coming from one of my favorite animators (check my list :P) this is a true honor. Not to sound dorky, but i really appreciate it
edit: Oh yeah, all mouse man. Hopefully ill upgrade soon. Start pumping out some really sweet cartoons. Learned alot in school about flash. Do you know any tablets that'll peak my interest
DANG!
This is some fast pace, ninja busting ACTION! Well done man!
thanks!
